Hospital Ships‘ principle Jordan Geiger honed his chops in Minus Story, Shearwater and the Appleseed Cast, but recently found footing as a solo musician. His first release was 2008′s Oh, Ramona, a bedroom recording of mostly soft, tightly constructed lo-fi folk tunes. If that initial outing found him working through his introverted states, his latest offering finds him a much more outgoing; The orchestral rock of “Honey Please” recalls early Death Cab for Cutie filtered through a Neil Young fan, who really is pining for his special honey to come his way. It’s an old trope, sure, but a convincing one nonetheless.
“Honey Please” is from Hospital Ships’ new album, Lonely Twin, out now on Graveface Records.
