A down-low synthetic hi-hat, straight from the decrepit sample banks of No Limit Records, plays the heartbeat in Ladytron‘s latest song, “Ambulance,” from the Liverpudlians’ forthcoming fifth full length Gravity the Seducer. It’s a grand little number, half dour and minor scaled, directing a dollop of strings to lovely affect before the floor drops out and the ladies rev it into fourth gear.
Ladytron’s teased three songs from their upcoming album — the followup to 2008′s Velocifero — so far. While they’ve been quiet over the last year, these new songs hold a host of promise. The first two tracks teetered between typical Ladytron synth pop (“Ace of Hearts”) and a more orchestral, melodic approach (“White Elephant”). “Ambulance” finds the balance between these two modes.
