After successfully funding his Kickstarter project this month, publisher Shawn Demumbrum will debut a Smiths-based comic book, titled “Unite and Take Over,” at Tucson’s Comic-Con this November. The comic will feature 13 stories inspired by 13 different Smiths classics, including “Shoplifters of the World Unite,” “Girlfriend in a Coma,” and, of course, “How Soon is Now?” We at Hive wanted to imagine other Brit bands of the eighties with their own comic books. But instead of going the sensitive, lyrically inspired route, we wanted to see the superheros these bands could become. With that, we present the first of Hive’s Brit rock superheroes, Gang of Four. Their greatest superpower? Fighting the power.
