In addition to being one of indie rock’s 2011 monster jams, YACHT‘s single “Dystopia (The Earth Is On Fire)” is also the tune responsible for bringing Portland musician Jona Bechtoldt’s long-running multimedia project the attention it deserves, for the first time since the band began in 2005. Credit is due in no small part to deliciously magnetic singer Claire L. Evans, who contributed to YACHT’s early albums but became a full-time member a few years ago. Hive caught up with Bechtoldt and Evans at the recent FYF Fest in Los Angeles, learning valuable tips from the duo about collecting cables and how to avoid “bad smelling zones” on tour.
