The music-loving public has largely overlooked WIM‘s self-titled debut, and we’re not too sure why this happened. The influences are all there: Radiohead-like crooning, Magical Mystery Tour-era pop arrangements and a little bit of ethereal, airy arrangements blend to make a cohesive, Brit-pop experience (nevermind that they’re from Australia.). In this new remix from Sydney-based producer Guerre, WIM’s single “Something for You” finds the up-and-front piano muted into the background and the tempo pushed ahead by spacey, clapping rhythms. The album’s full of optimistic moments, especially during this song — but this new twist spins it into something a bit more bleak, with an air of uncertainty.
