In turning her song “Trust Fall” over to Nashville’s Jensen Sportag for remix purposes, singer-songwriter Madi Diaz didn’t have to worry too much about the duo doing something untrustworthy. “They didn’t know what a trust fall was,” she tells Hive. “I had to tell them.”
For the uninitiated, a trust fall involves blindly falling backwards into someone’s arms, where they’re supposed to catch you. It carries a little hippie philosophy in its concept, but Jensen Sportag take Diaz’s original folk-pop composition and turn it into an ’80s inspired, between-the-sheets jam. “This version is definitely brighter,” she says. “A little more throwing up your hands and saying, ‘What the hell, I trust you.’ I love it. It’s a little more daring.” Like all good trust falls.
Madi Diaz’s new album, Plastic Moon, arrives January 24.
