Last weekend was the second annual Bruise Cruise Festival, the punk-and-garage leaning three day concert cruise that travels from Miami to the Bahamas and back again. Hive photographer Rebecca Smeyne was on board, and the stories she sent back with her photos are amazing: Catching Karen O and Kyp Malone at the mandatory cruise safety briefing, seeing King Khan dip a certain body part in her friend’s drink (repeatedly), Jello Biafra competing against sound leaking from the club next door and a couple making out against the wall to give a lecture on consumerism and DIY. “No one carries their phones because we’re in international waters,” Smeyne writes. “So no one ever knows what time it is, giving the sense that time stops.” You’ll see what she means when you check out Fucked Up’s Damien (who was also the festival cruise director), as well as all the other kids drinking and frolicking in the bowels of the cruise ship.
