Yo, what’s up? We’re BBU. If you never heard of our group, your mom sure has. We just released a mixtape called bell hooks with Mishka Records and Mad Decent, mixed by the homie DJ Benzi. Hive asked us to send our “Must Know Chi-town Acts Happening Right Now.” That’s a tough one; there are a lot of artists we support in Chicago. To make this fair, we picked one artist collectively, as a group, and one for each of us, for a total of five.

And don’t forget: download BBU’s bell hooks here.

1. Stefan Ponce

Our pick as a group is the homie Stefan Ponce. Motherfucker is dope, check his shit out. Whether it’s Moombahton, Disco, Hip-Hop, or whatever else, it’s always official. He’s only 21 and we’ve watched him grow as an artist and a person. He produced “Beau Sia” and “The Wrong Song” on bell hooks. -BBU

2. Show You Suck

My pick would have to be the Show You Suck. He kinda just popped up like, “Yo, I can rap too,” and he’s been killing it ever since.  He says he’s all chill and everything but he’s really in all-kill-everything mode. So I got to give him his props. We recently hit the lab with him too, so you should expect to hear that soon. Check “One Man Pizza Party 2.” – Illekt

3. Save Money Click

This crew consists of Chance the Rapper, Caleb James and the young beast Vic Mensa of Kids These Days. They’re South Side Representers really putting on for the city right now. “F*Ck You Tahm Bout” is a banger. – Epic

4. Drea Smith

Drea Smith is my pick for the artist that everyone should look out for. She’s holding it down with a dopeeeee project called Pyramids and she also has a solo project with Doc Mckinney that I’m really excited to hear. And she’s just a trill ass person and friend that I feel blessed to know. – Jasson Perez

5. Sulaiman

Treated Crew brother Sulaiman has put out a couple of solid projects; most recently, he dropped Past Perfect and is currently working on Planet Earth. My personal fave is We’re Just Disappointed with Vic Spencer. Suli is just a good ass rapper; no gimmicks just dope rhymes.  -Esquire
