The chilly, spooky, electro sound of “Trinity,” a new track from New York bedroom electro sensation Computer Magic, didn’t come about by accident. “Trinity is about the show Dexter,” says Danielle Johnson, the songwriter and driving force behind the group. “There’s a killer called the Trinity Killer and I wrote this song from the perspective of Dexter about how he feels, how nobody knows him that well and he’s a bit of a lost soul.”

Taking in “Trinity,” it doesn’t seem far fetched at all. Not that Johnson herself seems particularly unhinged.“It just seemed like a good thing to write about,” she says. “Sometimes my life isn’t that interesting, so I write from the viewpoint of characters.”

“Trinity” comes from Computer Magic’s new EP, Orion, out now on Kitsune.
