It’s been nearly three years since Brooklyn art-rock act Dirty Projectors unleashed their critically acclaimed set Bitte Orca. So what’s on their minds these days, besides putting the finishing touches on a yet-to-be-named album? Suicide, apparently. Here, Dave Longstreth and co. discuss the merits of blowing your brains out with a gun that, for some reason, has no trigger. But what’s really unusual is the song’s restraint; a prominent bassline anchors down a steady rhythm with none of the dissonant guitar squelches that outlined their past albums. Is this a sign of a new, more accessible Dirty Projectors? Probably not, but have a listen anyways.
