An early contenter for hip-hop jam of the summer is here! A team-up between spritely Los Angeles rapper/Black Hippy member Kendrick Lamar and producer-turned-headphone mogul Dr. Dre, “The Recipe” is all shimmering, sun-kissed groove and relaxed raps. The beat’s actually produced by Scoop DeVille, leaving Dre to focus on his verbals –  and stoke rumors that Lamar ghost-pens the odd lyric for him here and there. Also note the Doctor’s fleeter-than-usual flow on this track.

The “recipe” of the title refers to the Cali rap staples of “women, weed and weather,” although the pleasure-seeking duo also add “palm trees [and] double-Ds” to their wish list. Now to just breakout the Coppertone.
