Netherlands-based production trio Noisia get the remix treatment for “Alpha Centauri” from drum-and-bass colleague Receptor. Plucking the bass-wobble riff of the original, Receptor slowed down the tempo significantly, giving each grating bump of low-end frequency extra room to breathe. Within these newly found pockets, the Russian remixer infuses some subtle string riffs and vocal samples, and morphs the buildups into guitar-driven, starry pleasantries. Although it’s a much more laid back version of the original, Receptor’s remix is still punchy and fun, and only one of a dozen or so remixes that appear on the deluxe version of Split the Atom.
