London-based DJ and producer Four Tet just uploaded a new mix to his SoundCloud account with the engaging title “Conference of the Birds.” Clocking in at just under 45 minutes, the mix is a series of reverberating transitions between tempered-yet-danceable singles, ricocheting African vocals, textured house kicks, ambient jazz, straight-up disco and post-dubstepish breakbeat. Four Tet doesn’t give us a track list, but we know from clues on Twitter that there are a number of new Four Tet tracks included from an upcoming 12”, and an exclusive from New York-based FaltyDL too. Some bird squawks are cued up around the 39-minute mark, possibly in reference to the aforementioned conference they are holding, before some heavy-hearted synths carry us into the sunset. It’s a melancholy end to an otherwise elastic mix. Stream it below. [Via Prefix.]
