Smoke DZA is a key part of the Smoker’s Club, a group of weed-happy rappers that records, tours and tokes together and also counts Curren$y, Method Man and Big K.R.I.T. among its blazed ranks. Last year, the Harlem rapper’s Rolling Stoned album was crowned as the set of the year by High Times; DZA’s next project, Rugby Thompson, will continue the Smoker’s Club’s (ahem) buzz when it drops in June. So with today being something of a national holiday for greenery enthusiasts, here Smoke DZA’s lays his five favorite jams to sit back and blaze up to.
1. Paul Wall feat. Devin the Dude, “Smoke Weed Everyday”
This one’s self-explanatory! Of course it’s all about the vibe of it, and the subject matter just makes it a cool joint to smoke to.
2. Jay-Z, “Allure”
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Pharrell did the beat. It’s not necessarily a burning record, but that record always makes me feel good when I wanna smoke. It’s essential.

3. Curtis Mayfield, “Making Of You”
The first time I heard Curtis Mayfield I was a kid. My dad used to play his records a lot and I’d get real aggravated ’cause he used to play it loud when I was trying to watch wrestling! I used to really enjoy my wresting shows! But the song’s just got a vibe to rock to when you’re smoking; I’m always a guy that goes by the vibe of things.
4. Snoop Dogg, “Gin and Juice”
I remember hearing this in my mother’s house, watching MTV, and that video came on and I was just glued to the television. From then on we’d hear that song, go to 126th Street to the bootleggers that would sell cassette tapes from the hole in the wall back in those days, and I’d go there and got my copy of “Gin and Juice.”
5. Smoke DZA & Curren$y,”Personal Party”
This is me and Curren$y. It’s one of my favorite records I’ve collaborated with him on. It was inspired by everybody rolling their own personal doobies while we were on tour and not passing them. We used to call it a personal party!
