Yesterday, we highlighted the new Phonte video, which featured a cameo by the rapper’s mother. Now we’re starting to think there’s a matriarchal trend abreast. After all, Mother’s Day is just right around the corner. And here, melancholy piano whiz Perfume Genius (aka Mike Hadreas) rounds up his mom for his new video for “Dark Parts,” one of the more upbeat tunes from his excellent new album, Put Your Back N 2 It. But Hadreas raises the stakes too, choosing not only to feature his mother (who can climb trees!) but cute puppy dogs as well.
