Brooklyn shoegaze outfit Blue Foundation landed a track on the Twilight Saga soundtrack and on their latest effort “Fundamental” the duo continues with a dark romantic motif. Weaving between dissonance and melody, “Fundamental” pairs atonal organs with chipper synths and tender melodies with background fuzz. The duo of Tobias Wilner and Brad Rande wrote the dreamy song as a tribute to a “beautiful woman” who offers her life to spare the people around her. “To save what’s she love at most, she has to sign a contract with higher powers,” Wilner told Hive. “The prize she has to pay is to be alienated from everything she knows and love.” And their storybook tale of longing is just as enchanting without any vampires.
