Melancholy ballad “The Corner” opens Cory Branan’s new album MUTT, a song that finds his well-worn voice talking about day dreaming, overflowing ashtrays and impending doom. Still, as it the song moves along, there’s an air of redemption in his voice that gives us hope that all is not lost. “["The Corner"] is mainly about the last ten years on the road with pretty much just the songs to show for it,” Branan tells Hive. “It tends to resonate with my dirtball musician friends.” That and probably the day drinking, too.
MUTT is out now on Bloodshot Records.
