Since then, she and her bandmates have toured with hard rockers the Cult, and even took a turn jamming with Joan Jett on the Replacements’ “Androgynous.” In this new MTV News interview, Grace talks on camera for the first time about fan support, her family’s reaction to her decision and Madonna’s influence during her early years, among many other things. Throughout, she’s confident, open and at peace. “This isn’t something that’s going away,” she says with a smile. “Saying to someone, ‘I am a transsexual,’ is the most empowering thing I’ve felt my whole life.”
