Stream the New Matt & Kim Single “Let’s Go”

“Let’s Go” is the first single from Matt & Kim‘s upcoming fourth studio album Lightning, but the Brooklyn duo sound surprisingly subdued for a track that features Matt shouting, “Let’s go! Let’s go! Let’s go! Let’s go!” With a drum machine-and-minor-key-piano motif doing the rest of the heavy lifting, “Let’s Go” is a little more contemplative and less of a party track than we’ve come to expect from these two. They’re borrowing lines from 808′s and Heartbreak-era Kanye (“but that’s the old me”), and tossing out, “I don’t care anymore” in the lyrics, cutting the upbeat tempo with something more bittersweet and reflective.

On the other hand, the video for “Let’s Go” is pure joy. Pat the Roc, the self-proclaimed world’s greatest basketball handler, shows off his dribbling skills, working three balls into a frenzy as Matt & Kim watch on, presumably taking mental notes on how to up their game this summer.

Lightning is out this fall on the FADER Label.
