Last month, we caught up with the Flaming Lips’ main man Wayne Coyne for a discussion about stripper poles and peyote. We had good reason to do so. MTV’s O Music Awards kicks off on Wednesday evening when the Flaming Lips try to break Jay-Z’s world record for most concerts performed in a 24-hour span. They’ll have a stripper pole on their bus, though we’re not sure about the peyote. The Flaming Lips begin their attempt on Wednesday, June 27 in Memphis at 7:30 pm ET and will perform eight shows en route to New Orleans the next night. An eclectic cast of opening musicians are along for the ride, including Grimes, Neon Indian, Big Freedia, Givers, and Gary Clark, Jr.

Get the caffeine supply ready and tune in here starting Wednesday to stream every show from the Lips and their guests as they race to the prize, and follow the OMA Twitter feed for exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to the event.
