Dark Time Sunshine Want You to See New Things on “Take My Hand”

Hip-hop’s underground is a forever fertile place, and up in the nether regions of the Pacific Northwest the Dark Time Sunshine duo of rapper Onry Ozzbourn and producer Zavala are cultivating some salubrious songs. Their new single “Take My Hand” co-stars Aesop Rock and Swamburger from the Solilaquists of Sound and, as Ozzbourn explains it, “is saying that if you take my hand and come with us you’re gonna see new things and hear new things in a different way.” That journey takes place over a production by Zavala that combines rugged rolling drum patterns with an emotive, nagging refrain. As Ozzbourn says of the track’s pull, “When I heard the music I messed around and wrote a verse inspired by it and I could already hear Swam on it, and then for sure I thought Aesop Rock would be the perfect person to end it.” It’s a lyrically nourishing combination that will appear on Dark Time Sunshine’s upcoming full length, ANX, which drops on July 24th.
