Van’s House Parties marked the halfway point in their summer season of free shows with the danceable, infinitely chilled lineup of Lemonade, Chairlift and Washed Out. It was a good choice for the sweltering heat: even though the line to get into the show went down the street for three blocks, young ravers still had room to dance inside, under the warehouse’s giant, airplane-wing-sized ceiling fan, while free beer hounds parked in breezy patio area. Some highlights: Lemonade singer Callan Clendenin sounded surprisingly powerful on the band’s delicate single “Softkiss”; Chairlift’s Caroline Polachek had a bleach blond stripe in her new haircut; and Washed Out matched pink and blue lighting to their tricky rhythms, which seemed to surge and recede over each song.
