Stream Pete Rock’s Delicious Vinyl 25th Anniversary Mix

Influential L.A.-based hip hop label Delicious Vinyl turns 25 this year, and to celebrate their silver anniversary, veteran beat peddler Pete Rock mixed classic cuts from their deep discography. Co-presented by streetwear brand Stussy (who put together a funky line of DV-themed t-shirts), this 53-minute mix is packed with singles from the Pharcyde, Masta Ace, Young MC and Tone Loc. And thankfully, Rock doesn’t overextend himself, barely mixing the “Funky Drummer” breaks and nasally flows for more than a couple bars at a time. It gives this 2012 mix a nostalgic edge; sonically, it would fit in nicely into the pre-Serato era. Delicious Vinyl is still strongly associated with that period of music, but recent releases from contemporary blog favorites Casey Veggies and Dom Kennedy affirm they are ready for another 25 years of success.
