After previewing a little of “9th Inning” last week, Missy Elliott premiered full versions of the first two tracks from her highly anticipated follow-up to 2005′s The Cookbook. “9th Inning” features a verse from Timbaland where he calls his detractors “tadpoles” and confesses that he’s a Lady Gaga fan. On “Triple Threat,” which opens with Timbaland rabbiting on over a hazy synth-laden production, Missy informs the world of her mammoth new drink of choice: “One liter, two liter/ In my cup, margarita.”
Both songs are part of a movement Missy called “theatrical hip hop” (as she told Ustream) and there’s a gothic sense to Timbaland’s productions. Rumored to be titled Block Party, the project is scheduled to drop before the end of the year. Bring the drama!
