Love Inks Pen an Ode to Groupie Life on “Secret Tattoo”

“The idea for ‘Secret Tattoo’ came from reading about Pamela Des Barres, the famous groupie and musician from the ’60s who fell for Waylon Jennings, Noel Redding, Jimmy Page, and Mick Jagger,” Sherry LeBlanc, the singer of Austin’s Love Inks, tells Hive. “She was super boy crazy, more so than anyone I have ever heard about.” Fittingly, LeBlanc utters the same line “I’ve got your name tattooed on my brain” repeatedly throughout the pop tribute. The track only clocks in at one-and-a-half minutes but lofty guitar riffs, a snare-speckled beat, and LeBlanc’s sultry vocals keep the repetition fresh and the effect is hypnotic.
