Gary Clark Jr. on ‘In My Room.’
A little over a year ago, we trailed Gary Clark Jr., a 20-something bluesman who has been turning heads on Austin, Texas’ music scene, as he made his major television debut. Since then, he’s gotten heaps of critical praise for his phenomenal Bright Lights LP, he’s performed everywhere from Jay-Z‘s Made in America festival to, er, the room where Hive filmed In My Room, and he’s gotten encouragement from the likes of Alicia Keys. Now he’s releasing his major-label debut, Blak and Blu, which you can listen to right here via iTunes, a week before it comes out. Over these 13 songs (produced by Clark, Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre) and Rob Cavallo (Green Day)) Clark shreds guitar solos, takes on a Hendrix classic, tries his hand at heartfelt soul.
Blak and Blu comes out 10/23 via Warner Bros.
