Björk Plays With Sand Creatures in “Mutual Core” Video

Björk’s never been one for literal interpretations, and in the video for Biophilia’s “Mutual Core,” made in conjunction with MOCA and directed by Andrew Thomas Huang, she’s at her most cryptic. Singing from a waist-high pile of sand while wearing a gold lamé frock adorned with seashells and gems, lithic creatures swirl around her head and nuzzle each other before erupting with lava. It’s either a really great metaphor for global warming, or a sand-art project gone awry. Regardless, it’s keeping us beguiled until she releases bastards, remixes of songs from Biophilia, next week.
