Mean Creek Seize the Moment on “Come on, Before It’s Gone”

On their new song “Come On, Before It’s Gone,” Boston four-piece Mean Creek are clearly channeling a youthful mentality. Taking inspiration from Dinosaur Jr., the Replacements, and fellow pastiche rockers Yuck, they repave a well-trodden road with an opening note of squall, thick guitar haze, and chanted vocals. “We wanted to put forth a feeling of reckless abandon to reflect the ‘seize the moment’ kind of message of the song,” frontman Chris Keene told Hive. “The song is about living for today, because now is all we really have; grab moments as they are happening so that you don’t end up with regrets and love, life, and opportunities don’t pass you by.”
