Hive Five: Our Daily Listicle of Musical Musings
With their Charli XCX-penned single “I Love It,” Swedish sythn-pop duo Icona Pop won the hearts and minds of electro and indie-dance fans the world over. And the Icona Pop-inspired party isn’t ending anytime soon. Yesterday, twelve official “I Love It” remixes were released on Big Beat Records, featuring work from an eclectic range of electronic producers. Get your Icona Pop dance fix with the best “I Love It” remixes below:
1. Sazon Booya Moombahton Remix
The New York moombahton DJ and production put together one of the only “I Love It” remixes that departs from the 128 beat-per-minute standard. Look out for snappy dembow drums, big Dutch synths and an overall Caribbean sheen.
2. Volta Bureau Remix
DC-based production trio Volta Bureau take “I Love It” in a decidedly dark direction with a brooding arpeggiator line and apocalyptic calypso builds. Noir techno for fans of upbeat funk.
3. Wayne G and LFB Club Remix
Wayne G and LFB produced a euphoric take on “I Love It,” a progressive power-pop house anthem that would be well-suited for the radio.
4. Steven Redant ’90s Bitch Club Remix
Steven Redant’s remix of “I Love It” is prime festival fodder. The tropical-sounding percussion and bouncy synths will have you suddenly browsing StubHub for Coachella tickets.
5. Solidisco Remix
The only remix listed here not on on the official Big Beat release, Solidisco deserves inclusion in this list. Enjoy big-room disco vibes and heavy piano rhythms on this refix.
