Chris Brown Has a Tweet-and-Run Problem

Chances are, you or someone you know has posted something ridiculously dumb to a social network. Maybe it was a off-color joke or a gripe about a boss/teacher/ex. Cheeks became flush, tears were shed, lessons were learned. Unless you are Chris Brown, right? Dude cannot seem to check his Twitter impulses at the door, as the world recently learned via his public Twitter spar with comedian Jenny Johnson. But this might not necessarily be a symptom inherit to social media, as Hive’s Phillip Mlynar wrote yesterday. ”[He] appeared more concerned with putting down Johnson than with maintaining his image, or, perhaps protecting his image involved vulgarly putting down Johnson,” Dr. Pamela Rutledge surmised. “Without knowing Brown, who’s to know? We do know, however, that impulse control may not be one of his signature strengths, based on the very public abuse of Rihanna.” Our takeaway from this: Twitter beef psychology is still a very understudied phenomenon.
