Uptown X.O. Is Funky and Introspective on “Finding My Way”

On Uptown X.O.‘s new single “Finding My Way,” the Washington D.C. MC sounds a bit frustrated. ”Rappers don’t talk about real shit,” he says. “I’m not going with that iced-out shit. We’re talking about something different.” And indeed he does. Above a percussive funk loop from long-time collaborator AB the Pro, X.O. recalls housing evictions in which he lost his first rhymes and his prom pictures. He also laments fake friends and Instagram models. “As I got into the verses, I wanted to channel a certain road that everyone is on,” X.O. says. “Even if you’ve found yourself, you’re still on a journey. Nobody knows everything, so as long as we’re growing and searching, we’re all finding our way.”
