Last summer, Berlin vocalist DENA grabbed a bunch of YouTube views for the infectious video to “Cash, Diamond Rings, Swimming Pools.” Now she’s back with a proper release and a bunch of remixes of the single. For this new version by Lou Teti, DENA says that the Brooklyn producer takes the song into a new, poppier direction,  even though the tune is a bit more bleak. “It’s a song about longing for what you don’t have,” she tells Hive. “It plays with certain symbols of success and inverts those through the video. Lou’s transforming the original tune to a different kind of dancey version, where there’s some funky bass and guitars involved.”

DENA’s Cash, Diamond Rings, Swimming Pools EP will be released by Kitsune on January 29. Stream the Lou Teti remix below:
