The Heligoats Celebrate Darkness on “Dark”

On the Heligoats latest single “Dark,” the Bellingham, Wa.-based band attempts to decode inner darkness, but aims to dispel those typical feelings within us. “Finding your darkness, naming it and looking past it might be what the song attempts, or attempts to suggest,” says Heligoats principle Chris Otepka. “If you don’t let it [darkness] consume you, you can celebrate it. On the track you can hear Otepka favoring a rock sound well represented with a not so subtle bass and electric guitar. “If you’re going to explore darkness, you should have a life line. Like a guitar and a four-track machine. And snacks.”
