The Hangout Music Festival is set to take over Gulf Shores, Alabama tomorrow with five fully loaded stages and an excellent, eclectic lineup. Whether you are into rock, hip hop or electronic dance music (or, like us, all of the above) Hangout has plenty of variety to keep you musically satiated. On the rock side, Jim James, the Shins, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and the Dirty Projectors top our must-see list. Kendrick Lamar is the new school hip-hop stud of the bunch, while Public Enemy aim to provide fans with their Golden Era rap fix. With acts that include Bassnectar, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Wolfgang Gartner and Porter Robinson, the EDM side of the festival is nothing less than stacked. This is great news, because even if you aren’t heading down to the Gulf this weekend, MTV will be streaming live performances from the festival on our Hangout 2013 Hub.
Whether you’ll be catching these acts beachside in Alabama (have you seen our list of things to do in Gulf Shores?) or from the comfort of your own living room, we’ve put together a handy Hangout Music Festival primer in the form of a Spotify playlist. Below, stream gems new and old from some of Hive’s favorite Hangout artists, including Zion I, Stevie Wonder, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Holy Ghost! and Grizzly Bear.
MTV, VH1 and CMT will be on the ground at Hangout 2013, bringing you all the latest news, interviews, performances and more from the Shores. If you’re not able to be there, be sure to check in and watch live streaming performances all weekend.
