Chief Keef Makes it Rain Like Kobe in New York

At the Best Buy Theater in New York Saturday night, Chicago rapper Chief Keef and his Glory Boyz crew drew a few thousand “Sosa”-loving fans out for their live show. It was the 17 year-old’s first performance in town since his debut downtown at the much-smaller S.O.B.’s nearly a year ago, and what a year it’s been for Chief Keef; notable developments include: a six million dollar record deal with Interscope, a two month sentence served in Juvie after getting busted via a Pitchfork video for violating terms of his probation, several other arrests, including two last month, and a just-confirmed track on Kanye’s forthcoming album.

In addition to performing such hits as “I Don’t Like,” “Love Sosa” and “Hate Bein’ Sober,” the blinged-out Chief unveiled two new tracks, whose titles are as yet unconfirmed.
The stage was packed with close to 30 people, many with mics, including a kid who looked to be under 12, and at least one guy with the foresight to bring a wad of ones to “make it rain like I’m Kobe” at the appropriate time in the set. Check out all the action from a rowdy night in Times Square.
