Austin native Bird Peterson runs Teenage Riot Records with JFK from MSTRKRFT and consistently cranks out party-friendly edits of all types. On his SoundCloud page, he’s posted remixes of everything from Kendrick Lamar to Major Lazer to Aphex Twin. He’s also honed the alter-ego Drankenstein, “a dirty south meets trance project that’s now in its 5th year.” On this latest mix for MTV Hive, which includes plenty of both Bird Peterson and Drankenstein material, Andrew mixes hard-hitting hip-hop songs between trancier breakdowns, usually lingering around the 140 beat-per-minute mark. “The vibe is a bit of a sine wave, going from club bangery to some laid back hucklebuck, but it’s all on the slower tip,” he tells Hive. “I included not only my most popular tracks as of late, but also some of my absolute favorite releases I have done. Also featured are some special exclusives and a few choice cuts from my next EP Dry Humping Eternity due out late this summer. Enjoy!” Stream the mix and view the tracklist here.
