It’s Pitchfork Music Festival 2013 in Chicago, IL., and after performing his intoxicating set, the Canadian artist Mac DeMarco is backstage pondering his next move. “I’m wet, I’m horny, and I’m ready to watch some cool ass bands,” he declares. “I’m hoping at some point in the fest to get a little bit of that sweet gold from R. Kelly’s penis sprinkled onto my young male body,” he confides to Sam France & Jonathan Rado of Foxygen, “How about you?”
In this episode of Weird Vibes, Mac DeMarco & friends take us on an incredible Pitchforkian adventure featuring interviews with (in order of appearance) Parquet Courts, Toro y Moi, Foxygen, Woods, Ryan Schreiber of Pitchfork, Frankie Rose, Sky Ferreira, Mikal Cronin, White Lung and Waxahatchee, plus what you can only loosely define as “cameos” by Bjork and Savages. Mac also takes time to meet his fans.
Videos in this episode include live performances of “Viceroy” by Mac Demarco and “Take the Mirror” by White Lung from Pitchfork Fest (courtesy of Pitchfork TV), as well as the music video for “Easy Easy” by King Krule.
Many thanks to Pitchfork, as well as to Captured Tracks (who have their own festival later this month).
